Hey there…

Today I wanted to post something that surprised me a little. I admit it - I’m enamored with the idea of DNA testing and what it can do for human health. But I thought, MAYBE, I’m just a little quirky. Guess who else is interested? In fact, guess who’s backing a company that works with DNA testing daily to deliver genetic health and ancestry information to their customers? GOOGLE…that’s right, the one and only G-O-O-G-L-E. Here’s an excerpt from an Associated Press article I found.

23andMe slashes price on personal genetics test

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — A Google-backed startup that analyzes customers’ genetic makeup to predict health risks and provide ancestry information has slashed the price on its personal DNA test, the company announced Tuesday.

The decision by 23andMe Inc. to cut the price of its test from $999 to $399 could herald a price war in the small but buzz-heavy marketplace for direct-to-consumer genetic testing. The company’s main competitors charge anywhere from just under $1,000 to $2,500 for similar services……..
